I work at the economic and trade section of the Embassy of the Argentine Republic. It’s a pleasure for me to read China Today at the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) in Beijing this September. It’s very informative and impressive. For example, in the article titled “International Warehouses Facilitate Cross-Border E-Commerce” in the economy column of the September issue, I found potential opportunities for expanding international economic exchanges. So far as I know, the international warehouse is a new business form of global trade that emerged amid the boom of cross-border e-commerce. I am also amazed at the statistics released by the Ningbo Municipal Bureau of Commerce, which show that more than 60 companies in Ningbo have deployed 203 warehouses around the world, covering a total floor space of two million square meters. More than that, the global parcel tracking platform of the Alibaba Group called Cainiao provides international warehouse operators with a full supply chain solution. By relying on its domestic and international warehouses and logistics capabilities, the company can provide cross-border operations with diversified logistics services and supply chain solutions. The story has intrigued me to learn more about the fast, low-cost delivery, and how to use foreign-based warehouses to expand the businesses between Argentina and China.

I work at the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in China. From time immemorial, the caravan routes on the ancient Silk Road invariably crossed Azerbaijan, serving as the link between the mysterious faraway kingdom of China and Europe. I was recommended to browse China Today’s official website by someone during the 2021 CIFTIS. I found some of its articles very interesting as a foreigner, such as the ones in the economy and culture columns, and also the special reports. I was impressed with the article titled “Tapping into the Potential of Asia-Europe Connectivity.” Since the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) was put forward in 2013, connectivity construction has always been a key topic in global public policy discussions. The untapped potential in the construction of connectivity between Asia, Europe, and the rest of the world is really huge. The culture column stories are also very intriguing. We often say that a nation’s culture resides in the hearts and souls of its people. Throughout the centuries, talented handicraft artisans in Azerbaijan offered foreign merchants a great variety of useful goods — graceful jewelry, wind and string musical instruments, magnificent carpets, and local types of silk. At present, Azerbaijan grants visas on arrival to Chinese travelers based on the mutual political trust our two countries share. To create a better world, we believe that China’s proposal of building a community with a shared future for humankind is the only right way to go forward.
